Obay Curved Toki Necklace

$280.00

90mm High
40mm Wide
18mm Deep

Once used as a tool by tangata whenua, the toki shape is now considered to symbolise strength, courage and determination. However, this said, it’s my belief that the wearer should cast their own intentions on the taonga based on their needs. All these treasures are a source of peace, mana and connection that uplift your mauri. They are also amazing sensory tools to feel or hold in tough times.

This piece has been carved out of Obay Stone, a stone named after its founder; Shayne Anthony Hancock and is only found in the Golden Bay region. It showcases an amazing rainbow of colours from golds to greens and blues.

All taonga I carve comes with a 100% organic cotton bag to keep it safe when not wearing.

*Note: This is authentic Aotearoa kōhatu and has been correctly sourced through acclaimed local Ōtautahi artist/carver; Jon Jeet—founder of the community initiative; Tūhono Taonga, Tūhono Tāngata. This cause helps empower and connect the local community through toi and Mātauranga Māori.
